
Strade dei Parchi works in coordination with other Entities and Subjects, to be able to offer all Travellers on its motorways the best assistance in terms of safety:
- the Highway Operations Centre of the Traffic Police coordinates the activities of the Patrols of the subsections of Rome East, L’Aquila West and Pratola Peligna;
- the Oil Companies and the Catering Companies, concessionaires for the provision of refueling and refreshment services at the Service Areas;
- the Fire Brigade;
- ACIGlobal, VAIEurop Assistance and AXA Assistance for mechanical rescue services;
- 118 which guarantees prompt medical assistance.

30’’, 15’, 20’: safety times
30 seconds – average waiting time to receive assistance at the automatic door (in the event of a malfunction)
15 minutes – average arrival time in the event of an accident (from the report) of the management personnel (Traffic Police and Strada dei Parchi)
20 minutes – average frequency of passage of snow ploughs in the mountain sections.
In 80% of cases, traffic is restored within 1 hour from the first report.
Safety management
Strada dei Parchi and Traffic Police jointly coordinate intervention activities. The Traffic Police guarantees the first intervention to assist people, protecting traffic safety while Strada dei Parchi guarantees the timely arrival of its staff and emergency vehicles to restore traffic conditions and activate all communication channels to inform Customers.
The main communication and traffic regulation tools are respectively:

Tutors as safety tools for the Traveller
The Tutor is an innovative system that allows you to detect the average speed of vehicles. The system was installed along the routes that had higher than average mortality rates.
Speed control via Tutor is active on 40% of the network and has determined a clear decrease in accidents and consequences for people:
- mortality rate: -50%
- injury accident rate: -20%
- accident rate: -37%
With a view to prevention and transparency, special advance warning signs have been installed on all motorway routes with the Tutor system.

SOS columns
SOS columns equipped with voice and 2 buttons for calling Medical and Mechanical Assistance are installed every 2 km along the emergency lanes (see also: Useful numbers)
How to use the SOS columns?
Press the button corresponding to your needs: a light confirms receipt of the call to the control center. The operator automatically recognizes the exact position, then wait for the voice communication to open and provide the information.
